Sadly I pretty much agree. The last few times I have been to the Goodwood Festival of Speed the supercar runs have been a bit meh as well. Most of the cars are turbocharged or electric now and the sound they make is pretty much non existent. The EV's just have tyre and wind noise and the turbocharged internal combustion cars sound so muffled. Even a old Japanese turbocharged sports car, hot hatchback or sports saloon sound better.

Are the classics ULEZ compliant? I thought cars had to be post 2005?

I am not sure it was one of the fastest cars even the cooking version of the lamb went 201 in 1993

We all need to get a bicycle, flat cap and cycle clips… Reducing the speed limit to 20mph makes sense in a town centre, but on let's say the north/south circular road, for example, doesn't makes sense. I understand Mr Khan is driven round in a Range Rover, accompanied with his bodyguards in another Range Rover, he also has had his dog driven to a playing field in an another Range Rover. That to my mind is very green.

1) Choose a traditional publisher. 2) Don't be tempted to use supplementary skills - it's easy but erodes trust. 3) Aim for wide distribution and sales.

When it came to Italy in 1984 it was considered sensational for its special effects (and it actually was). It looks stunning even nowadays. It made me partially forgot Knight Rider and I was so sorry when it was canceled. But still many Kids of the 80's remember it very well

What's reliability like for these?

Over the years i have bought several pieces of equipment made in China because of the price. It dosent take long to realize that most of it is substandard garbage, Having poorly made cars on British roads is a worrying matter.

Museums are for unused vehicles. Use your cars you love and which make memories but each time bring smiles on your face. But, maintain them so they are reliable and safe. You say, governments are anti cars, however, we need cars to get around, we only have one bus per week which gives us 1hr shopping time. A taxi for the same trip costs £30. People view EV’s as a recent development. In fact, the first electric cars were sold in the early 1890’s and sold fairly well into the 1990’s. The technology has improved greatly since then. Gas was cheap in the 1950’s so that gave a definite advantage to ICE vehicles. Not sure we have reached a tipping point yet, but that could happen in near future if costs drop further and infrastructure expands. There will still be many people for whom EV’s are not practical due to inability to charge at home and driving conditions that are not favorable for EV or hybrid cars.

Don't talk about Stellantis. I wouldn't trust them as far as I can throw a BMW.

Feeling the same sentiment as you. Obviously, it still needs to be good automotive fiction, but the lack of entertainment available for car guys in recent years has been noticeable to me. Closest I can think of off my head is MF Ghost, which itself is a sequel series to the manga Initial D. That’s to say nothing of Fast & Furious, Bullitt, and Speed Racer (1967), which were big for me when I was a child, and I also just discovered Future GPX Cyber Formula. Must be terrible for you car guys out in the UK right now. The US and Japan are looking better and ICE seems to be staying for the foreseeable future in those territories, but there are still people who want any and all non-EVs outlawed. I’ve had ideas in my head about auto-centric stories and write very well, but have never pulled the trigger on it. If you have any advice or ideas for self-publishing like your ULEZ book, what would it be?

AI is programmed by people with agendas, so it's not really AI but an attempt to eliminate free thinking humans creational skill. EV's are not new tech, they are old tech. Resources will not keep up with dispoable cars. ICE is a much cleaner tech.

I agree, I'm a petrol head through and through and have been since before I was even aged to drive but if I was to start over again now at 17 Even I would find it hard to justify the cost and time it takes now and it's only been 8 years since I passed so that tells you how badly and quickly its changed in recent years.

Don't forget that the 'growth' you're talking about is almost exclusively from fleets and business - private buyer EV sales are flat.

The problem with EVs is the resources need to build them and the infrastructure to support them. Just look at copper. We can't mine enough to support an EV transition.

I'm far more worried about what's being dumped over my head by planes then I am about a euro 4 car exhaust with a cat converter on it.

The truth is that CCP China has overbuilt their industrial capacity to manufacture EVs & lithium batteries. They want to flood their products internationally, but many governments are leery in being dependent on a supply chain that can be cut off in a political crisis while simultaneously indirectly funding the People’s Liberation Army (e.g. Invasion of Taiwan, armed conflict with the Philippines, etc.), while Europe & the US would be destroying their own capacity to manufacture vehicles if they open CCP China EV imports.. A perplexing scenario.🤔
